London Borough of Newham

Background

The Cranberry Estate lies within the West Ham and Plaistow New Deal for Communities (NDC) area.  The estate is a series of cul-de-sacs built in the 1980’s.  The terraced housing and medium rise flats are now in housing association ownership although it was built for private ownership.  The mainly unadopted roads are blocked paved which does discourage commuter parking, however, there is very little green communal area for recreation.

Scheme Objectives

To reassign unused parking spaces
To create play areas
To promote walking and cycling
To link the estate to other nearby residential areas for a better community feeling.

Impacts
