Fun Day

P5040034.gif (54373 bytes)On the 4th May 2002 the first planning fun day was held at the North Close Estate.  Before the day local children helped make the model of the area which formed the centre-piece of the day.  Residents used cards to highlight their problems and suggestions, all of which were recorded.

P5040022.gif (49193 bytes)During the day there was a bouncy castle, face painting, circus skills and refreshments all of which kept people entertained.  Other agencies such as the police, the local housing association and Cornwall Action Team for jobs were also there to talk to the residents and give away freebies!

The weather stayed fine and there was a very good turn with over 250 people participating.  Initial results show the most frequently mentioned issues to be children’s play, paths/roads and parking.

The next step is to use the results to create a questionnaire which will go to all households.  We want to ensure that everybody has a chance to comment.  We also need to do more to get across what a Home Zone is.  Although we had the Play Council’s video showing on a big screen, it couldn’t really be seen very well and didn’t manage to compete with all the other entertainment.

Many thanks should be given to Kerrier District Council who organised the day.
